What has been your experience working for Mary Kay?
What has been your experience working for Mary Kay? I’m considering working for them, but am unsure whether I should or not, and want to hear other people’s stories/advice.
Also, how in the world do you manage to get clients/customers?! I don’t know many people, and don’t want to be bugging my family and friends to attend "parties."

I love my MK business. I signed up in March and i have be doing Great. Im 21 years old and i paid off my college debt as well as a few bills im even going on vacation in 2 weeks.. Mind you this is all that i do no job for now. Im not puchy and i work hard for my sells.i make my clients happy. i purchased a $200 inventory and my director is not a pest as i heard that some can be. Im very proud to say hey i sell MK. i do have lots of tips and tricks that help me in the long run so that i keep my 50%- 45% profit. Im going to start working on the leadership side of MK. If you do decide to go for it its a great sisterhood. My advice to you is know how to say NO. Invest only what you can and dont get blinded, stay goal oriented. Take your time don’t rush. I have bulit my business up on the sales side now im woking on the leadership side. email me so i can share some of my tips with you.
Good Luck and i hope you choose to work with MK.
Great I love it. You want to really like and trust the person you sign under especially your Director talk with them Directly this is the person you will be working with that will guide you and help you with training hold weekly training workshops answer question etc.
Mary Kay teaches you all the hows once you get your starter kit there is a ton of information that will answer all your question and then some it can be a little overwhelming at first.
I you love and use the product you should not think of it as a bother to share it with anyone wouldn’t you share great shoe store or restaurant you found with family and friends it isn’t bugging unless they say no. MK shows are smaller then other Direct sale ad people get to tr the product for free before making a purchase plus family and friends will be your practice helping you get started and feel comfortable doing a class your best customers will be complete strangers you will meet after you have started your business. Focus on helping not selling and you will do well.
Lastly and most importantly it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks or even their experience what woks for you might not for someone else so you need to decide if this opportunity is worth the $100 investment to see if it is right for you.
Good luck
My experience, and many others, is that it is too long of hours for not enough pay.
There is the warm market, which are your friends and family (basically all the women you already know) and the cold market (all the other women out in the world you don’t know). You are expected to sell to and recruit your warm market right away. This seems counteractive, recruiting your own clients so they in turn become your competition, but Mary Kay will tell you you can earn commission from their sales. However, if they in turn recruit their market, and so on and so forth, no one is selling product any more, they are just recruiting.
You are then told to go out into the world and talk to ladies while you’re grocery shopping, going to church, waiting in line anywhere and asking if they would like to try Mary Kay. After you make appointments you are then asked to recruit them as well.
This whole sell/recruit system seems very much like a pyramid, where you are at the top and your recruits are under you and their recruits under them, but Mary Kay shies away from that description.

I love selling Mary Kay. Cosmetics give people a boost of self confidence and it’s great to know that you are in a sense providing them with that.
In your starter kit you receive a Consultant’s Guide which contains the business plan and the step by step instructions you can follow to grow your client base.
You should make sure if you become a consultant that you are under a truthful and successful Consultant/Director. There are so many negative stories out there and they usually stem from having a pushy Director. I am lucky enough to be in a wonderful Cadillac unit that cherishes each consultant. We work as a team to support and help each other reach our goals.
